Trip to the north!

This blog covers the week 08.04-14.04

Hello everyone!

The first half of last week were normal school days for me, where we once again we let the classes pick what they wanted to do. On Wednesday evening, Emma and I boarded an Intercape to the north. We arrived in Ongwediva early the next morning and almost immediately went on to visit the project in Okahao. In the evening we went back to Ongwediva as we were staying with the volunteers there. On the following day, we went with them to their school, Eluwa Special School, this school is for children with Hearing, Visual or Intellectual Impairments. It was amazing to interact with children as it is so different to how we can interact with our students. I am happy to announce that I have a sign name and know a little bit of NSL. We also tagged along for a swimming lesson which I really enjoyed. Early saturday morning we took part in the Run Along, for more information visit @the.run.along.foundation_ or @henrike.namibia.

After that we headed even further north to Eenhana. We watched two matches of the girls football team as they participated in a tournament. Hannah's girls claiming 1. and 3. place overall. We then had some Vetkoek and Kapana before heading to a newer project of theirs, USKO, a school for hearing impaired children. I was able to do netball training with them and communicate with the little sign language I had learned at Eluwa.

On Sunday we rested and played some board games. Our last day in the north was spent at the Paulus Hamutenya Primary School in Eenhana. We then headed back to Ongwediva where we took an Intercape back to Windhoek. Overall it was a wonderful trip and it was great to see the others in action.

Hugs from Namibia,

Zoë
