Special Post: Let's build a sports field!

Hello everyone!

Let me tell you about an exciting new project, I have launched together with a fellow volunteer at our school. After months of prep work, the school’s Board has finally approved our idea and we have started with our fundraising drive.

We are going to build a multipurpose sports field at our school!

Sport is transformative. Sport fosters togetherness. Sport builds self-confidence. Sport connects.

All of those things, we would like our school community to experience and make part of its everyday life. While our sports field will primarily focus on netball, basketball, and volleyball, there are other sports envisioned as well. Our vision is to create a versatile and inclusive space that not only meets the direct needs of these three sports, but also serves as a hub for community interaction, fitness, and youth engagement. This project aims to transform an underused area at the school into a vibrant space accessible to all students and the surrounding community.

The sports field will be a 35x20 meters with a hard-court surface and the respective lines for each of the three sports. We are hoping to install solar-based flood lights, so that the use of the sports field can be extended into the evening when the surrounding communities are more likely to have time to join and enjoy the newly created space. The sports field will feature the necessary equipment allowing for easy switches depending on which game is being played at the time.

We hope to commence with the construction of the field before the end of our volunteer time in late August. We may even complete it during that time depending on how well our fundraising efforts are going. And here is where we need your help.
