End of the year goodbyes and explorations

Hello everyone!

I had an amazing trip to Stellenbosch University!

As it is one of the universities, I am interested in for my studies, this trip was super helpful. I was able to meet up with professors, students and I even caught up with a family we knew from our Nairobi days. The head of the programme explained the various degree options to me in the area of sports science and psychology, toured the campus with me and explained the basics of campus life. During one of my other exploratory walks across campus, I discovered the university store and spontaneously bought myself a branded hoodie. That is how much I already felt at home after just a few days. Stellenbosch is a really beautiful small city with friendly people and lots to do outside of the university life. I can definitely see myself being a student there.

Arriving back in Windhoek, it was already the last week of school, so grade 7th had their farewell function. We had a lovely dinner function themed ‘walk of fame’, so all the students were dressed up with serious make-up – I could not even recognise some of them! Teachers were also recognised that evening from the student and parent body being handed out certificates with titles such as `nerves of steel`, `social media guru`, `best dressed’, amongst others. My title ended up being `bundle of energy`, which made me happy and encourages me to keep giving as much of myself as I can.

This past weekend, we ended up heading to a farm outside of Windhoek for time away from `big city life´! I managed to read a lot, enjoyed the African landscape, the magic of a sundown in dry and dusty surroundings. We ended our weekend sitting on the back of a pick-up truck crossing the farm land in search of some of its four-legged and other inhabitants, such as waterbuck, kudu and even a short glimpse of a black mamba. These few days away were the perfect way to start our holidays and I am excited to visit new an old places and see old friends across Southern Africa.

Warm greetings from Namibia
